Calgary Drop-In Centre
Danatec has always been committed to giving back to our community through charitable donations and initiatives. On September 12th, the Danatec team spent an afternoon volunteering at the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre where we rolled-up our sleeves and unpacked, sorted, and stocked all sorts of donated apparel in the clothing room. It was a very rewarding experience and we encourage you to volunteer or donate your gently-used items of clothing to those less fortunate.

"When we choose to use our success as a platform for those that are less fortunate; we can change the world. Being charitable is not about just money, it's about the people and the team who chose to give their time to something nobler. We will leave the world a little better than we found it and teach all of those around us what compassion truly means." - Alina Martin
Celebral Palsy Association in Alberta
On October 20th, Danatec volunteered at the CPAA with their Horticulture program. Since winter is on its way, CPAA needed help with their garden to prepare the soil for the winter, as their program runs all year. With a full team in hand, it was spent outside shoveling, removing shrubs and weeds. The Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta is a registered non-profit organization which supports people affected with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities. They offer different programs to help enrich the lives of both children and adults affected by it. Danatec also gathered items throughout the month such as games, toys, clothing for their donation program. This is a fantastic organization with a wonderful cause, and great way to support the people in our community.
The Calgary Poppy Fund Veteran’s Food Bank
On July 28th, Danatec Gives (along with the help from some friends) purchased and delivered some much needed food and personal items to The Calgary Poppy Fund Veteran’s Food Bank. Many Danatec employees personally brought in items and filled not one, but two donation boxes at our head office. These items will go to various Veteran’s in need in the Calgary area. A big thanks to everyone who chipped in for this important cause.
The Ronald McDonald House Calgary
Our Danatec team loves giving back when we can, it is part of our culture and who we are as a company. A few months back we cooked for The Ronald McDonald House in Calgary, we had such a wonderful time then, that we went back and cooked some more. June 22nd, a few team members had the privilege of cooking for 50 people staying that The Ronald McDonald House. It was Greek night in the house, with chicken souvlaki, pitas, Greek salad and rice. For dessert there were brownies, ice cream and all the wonderful toppings, and as always, dessert is a big hit with the little ones in house. The Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for out-of-town families with children who are receiving medical attention at the Calgary Children’s Hospital, and what better way to make them feel at home with a wonderful meal served up. The staff at The Ronald McDonald House are truly remarkable people, they make each person that enters the house feeling loved and welcomed and we honoured to be able to help out in any way we can.
The Big Give Project
The Big Bowl
On May 21st 2015 Danatec Gives sponsored a wonderful event called The Big Bowl at National on 10th. The Big Give Project is to allow every student within the City of Calgary and give them an equal opportunity play the sport of their choice. Last night’s event helped raise money for sporting equipment, and help fund programs in need.
The Big Give Project is truly a noble cause and life changing for many kids in Calgary. We are so pleased to be able to help with this cause, and to know that all kids are given the chance to play any sport without the financial burden. Danacet Gives is looking forward to sponsoring future events with The Big Give Project.
The Ronald McDonald House Calgary
On February 26th, 2015, a few members from the Danatec Team spent most of the day at The Ronald McDonald House in Calgary, where we were able to cook for the families that are currently living inside the house.
As you know, The Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for out-of-town families with children who are receiving medical attention at the Calgary Children’s Hospital. Danatec was fortunate enough to be able to help out in any way we could, and what better way to help out than to be able to provide a nice home cooked meal for the families currently staying there. So we put on our best aprons, gathered the crew and served up the best homemade meal we could. From sheppard’s pie and veggies to angel food cake with berries and gummy bears for dessert; dessert was a big hit with little ones.
It was such a pleasure and an honour to be able to host dinner at The Ronald McDonald House. It was truly a great experience and the Danatec Team can’t wait to go back this summer and do it all over again.
Habitat for Humanity
On July 26th, 2014, the Danatec team spent a full day volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to build affordable houses in Calgary. It was an experience like no other! With the help of some outstanding leaders at Habitat for Humanity we assisted in building walls, hammering, sawing and helping to finish putting a roof together.
The team was spilt up in to groups where we all participated in building parts of the house. Our President Alina Martin and others spent the day hammering down a wall and finishing the inside of the house, while our VP of Sales Tim Tymko assisted a Habitat volunteer in finishing up the roof. The other volunteers were split up into two groups and managed to finish the last bit of structure in preparation for the roof to be placed on the house. It was an inspiring day full day of laughs and hard work. We all came together as a team and built something that we can be proud of and we know that each of us put our heart and soul into helping those who need us.
